Hawaii Monet inspired wedding ~ Island of Maui

Featured on Style Me Pretty

Christine & Stan’s wedding on the Island of Maui at the Andaz Hotel Resort.

The wedding design drew masterful inspiration from 19th century French Impressionist works, particularly the seascapes and garden paintings of Monet and Renoir. Working closely with the bride, the design team thoughtfully crafted a setting that celebrated her extensive background in arts and literature. The reception space was transformed into an elevated interpretation of an artist’s studio, where every detail honored the bride’s artistic journey. Throughout the celebration space, the ethereal quality of Impressionist paintings came to life. The characteristic loose brushstrokes and dreamy pastel hues of the movement were elegantly interpreted through carefully selected floral arrangements, textiles, and decor elements. Each design choice was purposefully made to create an immersive experience that married the bride’s refined artistic sensibilities with the romantic atmosphere of a French garden painting. The overall design narrative seamlessly merged the romantic pastel palette with artistic touches that felt both elevated and deeply personal. Vintage art books, elegant calligraphy, and carefully selected art prints added layers of sophistication while staying true to the bride’s passion for literature and fine.

FLORALS & DECOR ~ Designs by Hemingway~ the floral and décor design masterfully brought to life the wedding’s artistic vision, drawing inspiration from 19th-century French Impressionist works while honoring the deeply personal connection to art that runs through the bride’s family. Lush, garden-style floral arrangements created an ethereal atmosphere that perfectly embodied the loose, dreamy brushstrokes characteristic of Monet and Renoir’s masterpieces. The welcome area emerged as an artistic focal point, transforming into a charming artist’s studio complete with easels, oil paintings, and authentic art tools. At its heart stood a remarkable interactive installation – a ceremony backdrop painting created by the bride’s father, where guests were invited to contribute their own brushstrokes, crafting a meaningful collaborative artwork that would become a cherished family heirloom. In the reception space, blue Provence linens lay beneath carefully curated table scapes featuring gold tableware and ambient bamboo lanterns. Each place setting told its own story through delicate handmade paper menus embossed in gold and die-cut place cards adorned with light pink bows. White cabanas draped in flowing fabrics and adorned with cascading florals created intimate gathering spaces throughout the venue. A particularly touching detail threaded throughout the celebration was the ballet and ribbon bow-tie motif, elegantly paying homage to the bride’s decade-long ballet career. This refined design element appeared consistently across the wedding’s custom stationery, logo designs, and even the thoughtfully crafted guest favor tote bags. Perhaps the most personal touch came in the form of miniaturepaintings created by the bride’s younger brother, each depicting a city holding special significance in the couple’s journey – from Taipei to Berlin, Oxford to New York. These intimate artworks, displayed on petite easels, served both as place cards and cherished keepsake coasters for guests to take home. The natural beauty of Wailea, Maui, provided what could only be described as the perfect Impressionist backdrop, its soft light and sweeping vistas enhancing the ethereal atmosphere of the celebration. Each thoughtfully curated element worked in harmony to create an environment where guests could fully immerse themselves in the artistry of the moment, connecting with both the couple’s story and the breathtaking surroundings.
