La Badia di Orvieto Wedding Editorial

Italy has so many hidden gems and La Badia di Orvieto, our venue for this editorial shoot is a perfect example of historical beauty. There is so much history here and the quaint gorgeousness of the green Umbrian countryside is breathtaking! I hosted my first Italian photography editorial here at this amazing venue with 8 photographer from all over the world. We were so happy to see everyones images get published in major wedding blogs!!

This 13th century restored church is located in the rolling green hills of the Umbrian countryside, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. It is the site of a beautiful Church of Romanesque origin with the most beautiful marble mosaic tesserae floor at the foot of the altar and aisle that has been perfectly preserved through the centuries. There are frescoes still intact adorning the walls of the Sacristy that date back to the 13th and 14th centuries.

The church was my beginning inspiration for a morning bridal session when I first started planning this shoot. When I travel for destination weddings & editorial shoots, I always pack one large bag dedicated to vessels, beautiful gowns & my styling heirlooms. I brought a nice selection of antique brass candlesticks for the church altar that created a beautiful backdrop for our morning shoot in this historical romantic chapel. The altar looked stunning with 50 vintage candles burning amonst that gorgeous backdrop.

My other favorite area of the Badia is the crumbling gothic stone archway overlooking the city of Orvieto. If ever there were a place that will make you stop & feel like you just fell down a rabbit hole into a new universe, this is the view. I designed a beautiful tabletop here facing the magical backdrop. The table was dressed with a floor-length gauze linen & a luxurious silk overlay from SILK & WILLOW. Beautiful fresh floral blooms in vintage brass vessels, luxury taper candlesticks flown in from Denmark candle designer ESTER AND ERIK, and an artistic calligraphy stationery set from THEO BERRY completed the tabletop. Everything was so beautifully captured by Hawaii film photographer JEANNEMARIE PHOTO If you are looking for a romantic destination wedding venue in Italy, LA BADIA DI ORVIETO HOTEL is one place you must check out.
