The Romance of Provence

We arrived in France via Marseille airport, rented a car & made our way up to our home base for 5 days in the village of St. Remy de Provence. I immediately fell in love with Provence after arriving at our hotel Le Chateau des Alpilles. The service was impeccable and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Part of the fun of preparing for our bridal shoot was the gathering & foraging for flowers & vines around the area. Planning a photo shoot in a foreign country is no easy feat. My list of flowers were not available locally but luckily I had shipped in a back up box from Belgium. My inspiration for the shoot was the charming beauty of Provence with its beautiful vineyards, rolling hills and romantic light. We searched for florals in the region & found that it was too early for the lavender to be blooming but luckily gorgeous peonies were flush in the fields! We wandered upon a lovely peony farm, Ferme Fleurie in Tarascon and found out that 90% of their harvest is shipped off to Holland & the rest is sold to local outdoor street markets. I created a lush peony and garden rose arch for our ceremony set at the historic venue Le Domaine de la Rose which is nestled in the Alpilles Regional Nature Reserve located in Orgon, France. This authentic 17th century Provencal farmhouse surrounded by a 25-acre park all planted with beautiful olive trees, fields of lavender & pine trees has to be one of the most peaceful areas on earth.
