I just loved working with this couple from the beginning of their booking stages. Kamila & Dean were a delight to work with. The wedding reception was designed at the Azure Restaurant inside the majestic Royal Hawaiian Hotel September 28, 2011. I created a stunning Moroccan table scape in the restaurant’s dining cabanas on the beach. My team draped mountains of red fabric draping across the cabana. We added accent lighting of hanging crystal chandeliers, hanging drop crystals over the table & red uplighting surrounding the cabana. The table scape was designed with a series of small vases of garden roses, orchids, candles, & gold charger plates atop a beautiful matte satin claret red linen. We also created the ultimate candy bar for the couple featuring a French Macaroon Tower!! Kamila flew in her personal photographer from the mainland, Oscar Aguilar who provided all these photos for us to post. This was a very intimate beach dining experience for being in the heart of Waikiki. Please call Jim at the Azure Restaurant to reserve a cabana for your next party or intimate wedding gathering.

Eric & Wendy from L’amour Photography shared these photos from Jane & Khary’s wedding at the beautiful historic Bayer Estate in Aina Haina. I love the beautiful Juliet garden roses that I designed in Jane’s bridal bouquet. Her bridesmaids carried vibrant parrot tulips & ranuculus. We created a ceremony arbor draped in fabric, hanging orchids, crystals, chandelier. After the ceremony the canopy was transformed into a dining canopy for the couples sweetheart table for the reception.

I am in love with these soft romantic colors at our latest wedding designed at the historic Bayer Estate last week. We set up our dining canopy on the estates new wooden deck facing the ocean. I draped the canopy with a beautiful soft creme & pale yellow fabric, hanging crystals, chandeliers & white/pale yellow orchids over the grand dining table. The table top was adorned with small vases of pale yellow, creme & blush pink roses, pale pink hydrangeas, and creme garden roses. Every detail on the table from glass charger plates to our new amber cracked glass stemware & lots of frosted glass tea lights added so much romance to a lovely evening at the estate. I have to tell you that the wonderful photographer Dave Miyamoto came to my rescue last minute as I forgot to bring my camera. Dave rushed over to takes these shots below. A big Mahalo to you Dave!! The Bayer Estate was a perfect setting for this romantic oceanside reception dinner. To view the property call Susan Mirikitani 808-377-9359

The current 2011 spring summer issue of Pacific Weddings Magazine just hit the shelves & oh la la how beautiful it is!! I was asked to design 2 bridal bouquets for the current issue editorial shoot & to channel the elements in artistic bridal bouquets evoking earth & sea. My interpetation of the Earth elements was a cheerful nod to the earth’s bountiful harvest. The picture of a summer picnic, it is a medley of tiny crab apples, brussel sprouts, seeded eucalyptus, green button mums, Star of Bethlehem, bersilia and coconut palm fibers.

My favorite bouquet though was a classic Hemingway ” By the Sea” . My love of the sea & its natural surroundings inspired the elusive qualities of the wind & sea with white coral taking center stage in this design. The monochromatic palette is a tribute to the ocean’s foamy white waves. Blush spray roses add romance when blended with delicate feverfew and flecks of brown fan coral. Dupioni silk and metallic satin ribbons lend a simple shimmer of sea glass blue. I love the way talented photographer Frank Amodo captures the feel in this shot. I hope to share more photos soon

I just designed for the most incredible couple Mark & Ryugo this past weekend. This commitment ceremony was filled with so much love, commitment & spiritual energy. I have been working with the couple for many months from Japan & New York. It was such a pleasant experience that I am sad to see it all come to an end now. I coordinated & designed the event bringing together the dream team of professional vendors. We created a beautiful lounge area with white drapes & blue uplights, Italian string bulb lights, a dramatic headtable with white & periwinkle blue dupioni silk linens, beautiful tablescapes of roses & orchids & lots of candles. The couple brought in their own photographer Patrick Ang from San Francisco & I am anxiously awaiting his photos. Please stay tune…..
